Die FLUDEX-Kupplung ist eine hydrodynamische Strömungskupplung, die nach dem Föttinger-Prinzip
arbeitet. Die Kupplungsteile von An- und Abtriebsseite sind mechanisch nicht miteinander verbunden.
Die Drehmomentenübertragung erfolgt über die in der Kupplung strömende Flüssigkeitsfüllung, die
über radial angeordnete Schaufeln geführt wird. Dabei stellt sich im Dauerbetrieb ein geringer
Drehzahl-Schlupf ein.
FLUDEX-Kupplungen der Baureihe FA.. sind für beide Drehrichtungen geeignet. Sie können in
horizontaler, geneigter oder vertikaler Lage eingebaut werden. Vorzugsweise sollte der Antrieb über
die Hohlwelle (106) und das Schaufelrad (105) erfolgen, damit die Vorzüge der Ausgleichskammer (7)
und der Arbeitsraumgeometrie genutzt werden können.
Bei Blockierung oder Überlastung durch die Arbeitsmaschine erwärmt sich die Kupplung, bis die
Ansprechtemperatur der Schmelzsicherung erreicht ist.
Durch das Ansprechen der Schmelzsicherung entweicht die Betriebsflüssigkeit und der Antriebsmotor
wird von der Arbeitsmaschine getrennt. Um das Abspritzen der Betriebsflüssigkeit zu verhindern,
können elektronisch oder mechanisch gesteuerte thermische Überwachungseinrichtungen (siehe
separate Betriebsanleitungen) eingesetzt werden.
