A Merkantil Bank 1988-ban az Országos Kereskedelmi és Hitelbank leánybankjaként kezdte meg a működését mint szakosított pénzintézet, tevékenységi köre elsősorban vállalkozásfejlesztés, faktoring és lízing volt.

A piaci igények felmérését követően a Merkantil Bank elindította a Flotta és a Termelőeszköz-lízing üzletágait, tevékenységi körének bővítése a gépjármű-finanszírozási piac teljes értékláncának lefedését szolgálja, így a Merkantil Bank Zrt. a hazai gépjármű-finanszírozás folyamatosan meghatározó szereplője.
